COORDINATION ANALYSIS BETWEEN ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN NORTHWESTERN FIVE PROVINCES IN CHINA

This paper uses 2002—2008 data and panel data mode, coordination calculation to study the coordination between energy consumption and economic development in northwestern five provinces, withresults showing a mutual coordination among economic development, energy consumption and energy efficiency, but facing loosing coordination or basic coordination stage sometimes in Ningxia, Xinjiang andQinghai, and in developing coordination stage in Shaanxi and Gansu. This paper presents suggestions on raising energy efficiency under a leading of enterprises and a supervision of government, adopting the transferred industries from eastern, and developing the clean energy, which can promote the coordination between energy consumption and economic development in northwestern five provinces.

The urbanization ratio can reflect the local economic development. Guangxi province has a low urbanization. Following the western development, China-ASEAN free trade cooperation, and northwest Guangxi economic region, Guangxi is now facing an opportunity to develop economy. This paper, based on theoretic and case studies, analyzes the relation extent among cities, and presents some possible urban groups in Guangxi.
